Flavours and sealife: cycling and tasting in the lagoons of Caorle

per person

There is not just one Venetian lagoon, but many lagoons: pedal among the oases, beaches, pine forests and all the other natural beauties typical of the Caorle and Eraclea area, you will enjoy the sea and many local tastings.

The Venetian coastline is a popular destination during the summer season for its sandy beaches, but it reserves plenty of surprises in every season, by pedalling effortlessly with an e-bike to discover the area’s typical environment, still partly unspoilt. Welcome to Caorle, a little pearl of the Adriatic, which will make you fall in love with it as it did with Hemingway so long ago… All around you natural oases, cycle paths overlooking the sea, pine forests embraced by lagoons: there is everything you need to experience a bucolic weekend.

1
Day 1
Arrival at the hotel in the afternoon and free time to get to know the centre of Caorle and its beach, before dinner in hotel.
2
Day 2
After breakfast, facilitated by pedalling assistance, we get to know Portogruaro, known as ‘little Venice’. Despite the fact that this town is almost ‘on the border’ at a very short distance from Friuli Venezia Giulia, pedalling among its stately Venetian-era palazzos adorned with mullioned and three-light windows, one perceives the presence of the ancient Serenissima. Not far away we find Concordia Sagittaria, with its cathedral and medieval Baptistery. We return to Caorle, but treat ourselves to a stop at a winery with a wine tasting: today we visit Frassina, on the edge of the Zignago Valley, in the Lison-Pramaggiore controlled designation of origin wine district. Once we return, we have some time for a stroll through the centre of Caorle, which is full of shops and bars. Approximately 50 km, intermediate bike tour. Type of route: mostly paved surfaces, no altitude difference.
3
Day 3
An unmissable visit with a stop at the ‘casoni’, the typical wooden and reed houses where fishermen and their families lived, or shelters for fishing gear and nets. We will be regaled with many anecdotes and memories, topped off with a tasty fish cicchetto and a glass of wine. On the way back to the hotel we can have an aperitif on the terrace: why not? Approximately 12-15 km Type of route: asphalt and gravel, no altitude difference.

Day 4
Off for the last visit! We visit one of the most famous wineries in the area. The former estate of the noble Corniani family, reclaimed in 1850 by the general insurance companies, the current owners, extends over 1770 hectares as far as the eye can see. Following major redevelopment, the farm is now a large multifunctional centre and important excursion hub. The exquisite welcome and the bucolic-style location make it a must for your stay in Caorle! A wine tasting, accompanied by classic cicchetti, is a must! We return to the hotel in the early afternoon for farewells - see you next time! Those who can stay a few more hours can enjoy the beautiful Caorle beach. Approx. 30 km Type of route: asphalt and gravel, no altitude difference.
Includes accommodation in double/triple rooms, half-board, 2 tickets for visits with tasting, e-bike rental, phone assistance, tour guide. Does not include travel to and from Caorle, lunches, beverages, tourist tax anything not mentioned under ‘Includes’.
