Enjoy a week biking in Maremma, discovering the hidden pearls of Argentario and Giglio Island: uncontaminated nature, archeology, history, traditions and good food.

A holiday immersed in the Tuscan countryside: you will taste culinary creations that combine tradition and creativity, accompanied by a good glass of Morellino and crickets in concert. Three bike tours to discover the stories of the Maremma and an exciting trekking in Giglio Island. You will live the stories that only the local elders can hand down to you, through gastronomic encounters between Jewish and Maremma culture, stories of brigands and pirates, sixteenth-century Spanish recipes, and everything that gave rise to a unique land of its kind. A beautiful land to see and experience from spring to summer until autumn, for a holiday in the name of sustainability that touches the hidden pearls of the Maremma.

Day 1
Late afternoon arrival, first "convivial" dinner.

Day 2
Breakfast by the pool and then set off by bicycle or e-bike to immerse yourself in the Maremma countryside. You will take a charming cycle path along the sea that will lead you to the small port of Talamone. After a short visit to the village, you will descend to Bagno delle Donne where you can have lunch in peace, explore the seabed and take a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the bay. You will get back in the saddle in the afternoon to ride into the Maremma Park: you will cycle on the plains along one of the canals of the Lorenese reclamation. You will return to the agriturismo along a dirt road through the Bruni winery and finally relax by the pool while waiting for dinner. Route info: 37 km bike ride,  difference in altitude: +143 m

Day 3
Today you will visit the Parco dell'Uccellina. Along paths full of Mediterranean scrub and olive trees, you will arrive at a deserted beach for a refreshing swim. Still riding towards the mouth of the Ombrone river, you will observe Maremma cows grazing and it will not be difficult to notice groups of white birds on their backs, they are the herons guardabuoi. On the way back you will see the former Granaio Lorenese, a large 19th-century building that is now the home of Biodiversity, and right in front of it the corrals and stables of the farm of the Alberese Regional Agricultural Company. You will hear the story of the butteri, who leave from here every morning to check on the grazing herds. Route info: 29 km bike ride,  difference in altitude: +150 m

Day 4
This day will give you an excursion into the typical Tuscan landscape. A true visual and sensory experience made up of scents and plays of light! Pedalling along the narrow roads of the reclaimed land, shaded by maritime pines and oaks, you will begin to climb towards the ancient fortified village of Magliano in Toscana, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of Argentario and the islands of Giglio and Montecristo. A short stop for a walk along the patrol path of the imposing city walls and the ancient Porta San Giovanni with its two Aldobrandesque towers to the Church of San Martino with its frescoes in the Sienese style. You will then descend along an evocative path of olive trees with ancient Roman paving to the Romanesque Abbey of San Bruzio. Return to the agritourism where you can take a swim in the pool while waiting for dinner. Route info: 35 km bike ride,  difference in altitude: +250 m

Day 5
This is your day off. Art lovers can pay a visit to the Tarot Garden in Capalbio, also known as the Garden of Niki de Saint Phalle. If you don't want to travel too far in a few kilometres, you can reach the town of Orbetello lying between two lagoons, for some healthy relaxation on the beach. It is worth ending the day by visiting the ancient fishing village of Porto Ercole. What will you choose?

Day 6
Today it is trekking day and the paths on Giglio Island are perfect. You set off for Porto Santo Stefano, a delightful village on the Argentario, where you take the ferry that will take you to Giglio Island in less than an hour. You will start the route with a climb along the old mule track up granite steps to Giglio Castello. After a short break in a typical bar to taste a glass of Ansonica wine or a slice of Tuscan bread with 'tonnina' (tuna fish), you will begin the descent to Giglio Campese along the old miners' path. You will have enjoyed a nice swim and can have lunch in one of the many beach bars or relax in the sun. The more active will be able to wander around the village discovering the Campese tower, the largest round tower in the Tyrrhenian Sea used to sight pirates and Saracens. Return to the port by bus to catch the ferry. Route info: 7 km, 4 and a half hour walk; difference in altitude: +400 m
